James + Aimee at Abney Park Chapel

James + Aimee

This was one of those weddings where it never really felt like we were there working. From the start, James and Aimee made us feel like part of the gang, and the whole day had an incredible energy that kept building.

A Wedding That Was Completely About the People

Some weddings are all about the details; others are about the people you remember.

This was definitely the latter.

James and Aimee created a day that felt completely natural from beginning to end. Beautiful without trying too hard, stylish without ever feeling formal, and filled with the sort of moments we love photographing most — the ones that happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.

Non-stop laughter, hugs, drinks being poured, people spilling out into the sunshine and that feeling that everyone genuinely wanted to be there.

And then came the party.

The energy shifted up another level entirely. The dance floor filled, the Guinness flowed, and things got progressively more chaotic — exactly as a great wedding should.

THEIR HIGHLIGHTS

It’s hard to choose one part of James and Aimee’s wedding that sums it up, because the magic was really in the combination of everything.

The people. The energy. The chaos. The dance floor. The Guinness. The absolute scenes.

But underneath all of that energy were so many smaller moments — the looks between James and Aimee, friends completely losing themselves on the dance floor, people laughing until they couldn’t anymore, and all those tiny interactions happening around them.

We loved the day so much that we also handed a VHS camera to our 13-year-old son, Christiaan, and let him capture it from his perspective. The result was perfectly imperfect: grainy, raw, nostalgic and completely unpolished. Somehow, it captured the day’s atmosphere better than anything overly polished ever could.

That’s exactly how we want a wedding to feel when we look back.

Not perfect.

Real.

WE LOVE YOU GUYS!
